Growing a community of followers of Yeshua -

- bringing Him to Jewish Pittsburgh and beyond.

About Us

Our congregation is growing a community of followers of Yeshua, bringing him to Jewish Pittsburgh and beyond! We are:

  • Yeshua-focused
  • Called to help Jewish people know the Messiah
  • Walking together in faith
  • Declaring the ancient, scriptural truth of God and Yeshua - Jesus

If you want to worship in a setting that values the best of both Jewish and Christian traditions, please join one of our gatherings, and experience the joy and purpose that our Creator and Redeemer has intended for us. All are welcome!

What do you mean by "Messianic?"

We celebrate Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel and the Lord and Savior of all mankind. We believe the Jewish Scriptures speak plainly and repeatedly of a specific Redeemer whom God would send to “take the punishment that we deserve for our sins" (Isaiah 53:8). Yeshua is recorded to have fulfilled the many prophecies about the Jewish Messiah.

What do you mean by "Jewish?"

We are a congregation that Celebrates Yeshua in a biblically Jewish way. There are both Jewish people and non-Jewish people in our congregation. Moses led a "mixed multitude" — Jews and Egyptians — out of Egypt (Exodus 12:38). All people equally need God's provision, and all people are blessed when they believe and follow Him. God put Yeshua into the history and culture of Israel, and we can learn a lot from studying Him in that context.

What do you mean by "Congregation?"

We help each other walk with Yeshua in a fruitful way! God said that he would make a nation of blessed people from Abraham. God repeatedly said, “You shall be My people!”

Statement of Faith

  1. There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), who is infinitely perfect (Matthew 5:48), existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

  2. Yeshua haMoshiach (Jesus Christ) is the true God and the true man (Philippians 2:6–11). He was conceived by the Ruach haKodesh (Holy Spirit) and born of the virgin Miriam (Mary) (Luke 1:34–38). He died upon the cross for the unjust (1 Peter 3:18) as a substitutionary sacrifice (Hebrews 2:9), and all who believe in Him are justified by His shed blood (Romans 5:9). He rose from the dead according to the Scriptures (Acts 2:23–24). He is now at the right hand of Majesty on high as our great High Priest (Hebrews 8:1). He will come again to establish peace, righteousness, and His kingdom (Matthew 26:64)

  3. The Ruach haKodesh is a divine helper (John 14:15–18), sent to guide, teach, empower, and dwell within each believer (John 16:13; Acts 1:8). Ruach convinces the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:7–11).

  4. The Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of faith and practice for true followers of Yeshua (2 Peter 1:20–21; 2 Timothy 3:15–16).

  5. Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27). Man fell through disobedience to God, incurring both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature (Romans 3:23), separated from the life of God, and can only be saved through the atoning work of Yeshua (1 Corinthians 15:20–23). Unrepentant and unbelieving people will exist forever in conscious torment (Revelation 21:8). Believers will exist forever in everlasting joy and bliss (Revelation 21:1–4).

  6. God has provided salvation through Yeshua for all men. Those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Ruach haKodesh, receive the gift of eternal life, and earn the right to become children of God (Revelation 21:1–4).

  7. God wants each believer to be filled with the Ruach haKodesh, sanctified wholly (1 Thessalonians 5:23), separate from sin and the world, fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service (Acts 1:8). This is both an immediate change and a continuous experience made in the life of each believer following conversion (Romans 6:1–14).

  8. Through the redemptive work of Yeshua, God provides healing of the mortal body (Matthew 8:16–17). Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges of believers in this present age (James 5:13–16).

  9. The Church consists of all those who believe in Yeshua. They are redeemed through His blood and born again of the Ruach haKodesh. Yeshua is the Head of the Body, the Church (Ephesians 1:22–23), which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the good news of salvation to the Jewish people first (Matthew 28:19–20) then to all other nations of the world (Isaiah 49:6, Romans 1:16, Acts 13:46). The local assembly/church/congregation is a body of believers in Yeshua who are joined together to worship God, receive edification through the Word of God, pray, fellowship, proclaim the good news of salvation, and observe the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Acts 2:41–47).

  10. There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life (1 Corinthians 15:20–23), and for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment (John 5:28–29).

  11. The second coming of Yeshua is imminent (Hebrews 10:37) and will be personal, visible, and premillennial (Luke 21:27). This is the believer's blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service (Titus 2:11–14).

  12. God's plan for the salvation of mankind was revealed when God separated Abraham and his descendants from all the other peoples of the earth for the purpose of creating a lineage through which "all the families of the earth would be blessed." Because this was God's plan to bless the world, He ordained blessing for those who bless Israel and cursings for those who curse Israel (Genesis 12:1-3).

  13. God has not rejected His people (Romans 11:1-11) but has confirmed their role as the means through which Salvation came to the world in the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31).

  14. Believers are to be in unending prayer for the Salvation and welfare of the Jewish people (Isaiah 62:6-7) and are commissioned by God to bring the good news of salvation to the Jewish people (Isaiah 62:11, Romans 1:16, Acts 13:46, Acts 14:1).
Hebrew Bible + New Testament

The Hebrew Bible, also known as the Old Testament, is accepted by Jews and Christians as God's Word. It says that our Creator would send the Messiah to benefit Jewish people and non-Jewish people (Isaiah 49:6). Both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament offer Wisdom from God on how we can lead peaceable, fruitful lives that please our Creator and Redeemer.

The standard against which everything is measured is this: does it agree with the Hebrew Bible?

  • We believe that the New Testament does not contradict the Hebrew Bible.
  • We believe that the New Testament fulfills the things spoken of in the Hebrew Bible.
  • We believe in the authority of both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament.
What is a Messianic Jewish Congregation?

Jewish Scripture reveals that YHVH wants to be our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer & Coming King !

When YHVH told Moses He would free us from slavery in Egypt, He said that HE would accomplish for specific things.  He said -

  1. I will bring you out from under the burden of slavery and death.
He would save us and give us new life.
  2. I will deliver from being bound to an evil king whose word meant despair, decay and death.
He would offer to us a holy bond (like marriage) and speak to Life to us.
  3. I will stretch my Arm out to judge those who enslaved you.
He would offer to be Healer to those who earnestly pay attention to Him.
  4. I will take you to be My people.
He would bring us close to Him so we would know our God and be
known as His people... and our hope would be in Him, our Coming King !

We have a choice - stay enslaved and suffer despair, decay and death.

Or, ask the Messiah of Israel - Yeshua - to be in charge of our life.  He offers then to save us from that despair, decay & death and to reshape our lives to be less like the evil in this world, and more like Him (perfect and holy).

Even more, if we pay earnest attention to Him HE offers to repair our mind, will, emotions and body.  And, HE offers the hope that He will soon appear in Zion, judging all who have ignored His love, and setting things right for all those who have been brought close to Him.

Why Exodus 6:6-7 ?

"Yeshua" is a Hebrew word which means "deliverer."

A deliverer breaks off chains and brings captives into a good an open place of freedom!

Yeshua is the "Shamash" - the Servant from above!   Just as the Shamash candle on the Hanukkah menorah descends to offer the other candles light, so Yeshua came from Heaven to be "The Light of the World."

YHVH angel told Miriam and Yosef (Mary and Joseph) to call their child "Yeshua" (in English - "Jesus") because "He will save His people from their sins."

This description of the Jewish Messiah (and Savior of The World) is found in the TENAKH (the Jewish Scriptures) in Isaiah 53 -

All we like sheep have gone astray,

Each of us has turned to his own way

But YHVH has laid on Him [the Messiah Yeshua] all of our sins

Yeshua took the punishment that we deserve.  He did this to show us He loves us.  He offers to save us from despair and decay and death, but we must say, "YES" to Him - acknowledging He died on our behalf and rose from the dead - proving He IS who He said He was - Messiah, Savior and Lord.

He offers to walk with us through every moment of life, showing us His Perfect Love and Resurrection Power.  And, He has prepared for us a home forever with Him in Heaven.

Yeshua is the loving King who will judge those who reject Him, but He will set free from slavery and heal those who turn to HIm.  One day soon, Yeshua will sound the "shofar of God" and take us to be His people, and we will surely and fully know Him who set us free.

Obtaining the restoration of our relationship with God and repair of our sin-damaged lives one must acknowledge we can't fix ourselves and call on Yeshua to forgive us.  If we ask Him and allow Him to direct our lives (be in charge!) ... He promises to care of us as a Good Shepherd gives his live to care for the sheep.

Contact Us if you want to know more about Yeshua, who came from Heaven to be our "Shammash" - humbly serving as our Sacrifice and Savior ... now Risen and exalted as King!

Why Yeshua ?

Because He fulfilled the Jewish Scriptures about the Jewish Messiah

Because He suffered and died, taking the punishment we deserve

Because He rose again - proving He is Who He claimed to be

Because there is no other option as loving and powerful as He
